Shrink Wrapping Heat System
A food packaging equipment company was designing a new shrink wrapping machine and decided to include a partner for the design of the thermal system. Tutco Farnam was there to help them improve their product.

The customer needed an entirely new thermal system for their shrink-wrapping machine.
Tutco Farnam provided an electric heater to replace a gas burner which was inefficient due to increasing natural gas rates. It was also less desirable due to outgassing and safety concerns when the line would shut down. Upgrading to electric heat resulted in dramatic savings in their cost to operate when compared to natural gas. In addition, an ongoing safety concern was alleviated.
Solutions & Their Impact
The completed system included a heater with a replaceable element, a blower, a thermocouple, and an insulated housing that can be cleaned easily. We developed internal baffles that give the system a uniform temperature and flow profile shrinking films quickly and precisely.
