Narrative Summary of Audit Activity and Results:

An ISO 9001:2000 surveillance audit was conducted at Farnam Custom Products, Inc. on September 7, 2007. The scope of the audit was: The Design, Development and Manufacture of Heating Elements. There were no nonconformance’s written during the audit. The auditor identified the following strengths and weaknesses:


  • Much evidence of continuous improvement.
  • Very knowldgeable, and dedicated management representative.
  • Very neat/clean and orderly facility.
  • Management is very supportive of the QMS.
  • Very effective Management Reviews.



The audit plan was not changed. Based on the results of this audit, this auditor recommends Farnam Custom Products, Inc. for continued registration to ISO 9001:2000.

Effectiveness of the Management System: Overall Statement of Effectiveness

The Quality Management System is effective at this time. Management reviews are conducted on-time and are effective. Results from internal audits and management review were audited. The management reviews have established that the QMS is suitable, adequate and effective at this time. Internal audits are conducted per the audit schedule and are effective. The schedule is modified if there are issues found during the internal audit. This auditor reviewed the results of a number of internal process audits. This auditor verified that all internal auditors were independent of the work, and the process approach has been adopted and is effective. Quality goals (Objectives and Targets) are being met or trending in the right direction. Farnam’s top customers are very satisfied with their performance. Corrective actions are answered in a timely manner and followed up for effectiveness. A sample was verified during an audit of corrective actions and during internal audits. There were examples of continual improvement projects ready to be implemented and implemented. There are examples that preventative actions are being generated. This auditor recommends continued registration to ISO 9001:2000.
